Chapter One
A wind blew through the western air temple, birds screeching overhead.
It had been only 2 days since Zuko and Aang had returned from their trip to the Sun Warriors ruins and shown the new form they had learnt, and already Zuko was being welcomed into the group.
Aang and Zuko had spent the morning sitting by the fountain discussing what each of them knew about the relationship between Avatar Roku and Firelord Sozin, trying to decipher a meaning in the hidden jumble.
“Well... Does this mean that you are I are connected in the same way?” Aang mused, looking thoughtfully at the sky. In truth it had only been a week since the failed invasion and he would much rather be soaring out in the chasm, than stuck on the ground, but he was warming towards Zuko, the older boy seemed to have a wisdom that Aang wouldn’t have guessed at.
“Of course it does!” Zuko snapped in his usual manner, Aang was well used to this by now and knew it meant no anger. “That’s not the point though, what are we going to do with it?”
They both sat in silence while they both pondered the question, neither of them willing to break the peace in which they sat, Content just to think and look at the Airbenders ancient home.
Sokka walked out of the nearby room and came to the fountain, waving his sword about in the air, singing absentmindedly a song about catching fish, unaware the two were watching. Zuko and Aang looked on in amusement as Sokka began to strip to take a wash in the fountain.
Zuko coughed loudly and Sokka whirled around, trousers half down, and turned a violent shade of scarlet.
“Oh..... sorry....  I was..... Errrr..... about to take a bath.......” Sokka stuttered, utterly embarrassed he had almost been caught in the buff. He was especially embarrassed to be seen by Zuko, even though he was not especially fond of him, he could not help but admire his muscular build.
Sokka shook his head, trying to dispel the thoughts that clouded his mind, he MUST stop thinking like that! I mean, it was ZUKO for glaciers sake! It was odd! Zuko would DEFINATELY not feel the same way, and even saying that he didn’t really FEEL anything... Yer thats right.... There was no feeling, it was just a guy admiring another guys physique.... That strong back and those big arms...........
Sokka shook his head again, the next few weeks were NOT going to be easy for him....





Later that afternoon, after Sokka had gotten over his embarrassment, the gang began exploring the temple. They did this most days, trying to see if there were any hidden rooms, any treasures they might uncover. It was more about curiosity now, though, rather than any hope of finding something special.
Katara rounded up the group from their various activities, including Zuko, though she made sure she glared at him till he looked away, and led the way into the temple.
As usual they all split apart as soon as they made it through the large doors, Katara sighed and said “Come on Aang, We haven’t been this way, and there might be a door I need you to open”, They walked off towards a large archway and disappeared from the others view in the gloom.
“What is it with those two?” Sokka mused aloud, “They’ve been spending an awful lot of time together lately”
“Probably just talking about things, from the looks of it The Avatar seems to have a crush on your sister” Zuko replied quietly.
Sokka yelped and turned around, trying to hide his blush “Don’t sneak up on me like that! Its not fun!”
“Sorry” Zuko replied, insincerely, with a sly smirk spreading across his face “I didn’t realise you were so jumpy”
Sokka had started to get a little flustered at the sight of that sly smile, it sent his thoughts racing where he didn’t allow them to go.
“Anyway... erm.... lets go.... look around?”
“Sure thing”
And with that Zuko walked away a short distance, stopped and turned back to make sure that Sokka was following, and then walked off in the opposite direction to Katara and Aang.  
As they walked silently through the passage they gazed in awe at the massive statues that surrounded them, the huge depictions of Airbenders gliding on the walls, seeming so realistic that it looked as if they were going to fly right out of the walls.
“They’re incredible” Sokka muttered, walking around with his neck craned upward. Suddenly he tripped against a loose rock against the floor and went flying through the air, a strong arm wrapped itself round him and whisked him up again, careening into a hard body, and while he was against it for just a fraction of a second, he could feel the heart racing. Once he stood on his own two feet he looked at Zuko briefly in the eyes, meeting his gaze, Zuko’s hard yellow eyes seemed to soften for the instant their gaze held together.  
“Thanks...” Sokka mumbled, his pulse racing at what he had felt and seen, was it possible, could it be even the slightest bit true that Zuko felt the same?

Just as Sokka was about to take his courage in his hands and look up again, they both heard an almighty crash in the back.
Both of them ran back to the main hall, and followed the echoing sound into a smaller adjacent corridor.
When they reached the end they found a sheepish looking Haru and an angry Katara shouting at him.
“Why on earth did you try and earth bend this wall?! We’re halfway up a cliff! You could have brought the whole place down!” She yelled at him
“Sorry, It looked like there could be something behind it, I only destroyed the wall and the floor beyond it.”
Zuko was peering down into the rubble and recognized the telltale edge of his sleeping bag.
“Hey! That was my room!”
“Oops, sorry Zuko! I didn’t realise, err looks like your going to have to move into someone else’s room for a little while, while i fix this” Haru offered.
“Great... And who is THAT gonna be?”
Sokka looked around at the reluctant faces, “You can stay in my room?”
Zuko’s head whipped around and fixed Sokka with a stare, share a room with Sokka? This could be intriguing....
While Aang was sat on the floor daydreaming, Katara was still berating Haru and Teo and the duke were exploring the rest of the rubble to try and salvage Zuko’s things, Zuko looked at Sokka and nodded, just once. Sokka’s eyes widened, this was going to be interesting
